Overview

Currently we anticipate and look forward to normal in-person participation, with appropriate Covid precautions as required by the University and the State of New York. The possibility of remote participation, however, cannot be fully ruled out.

Opportunity Description

Participants  in the program must comply with the public health requirements established by Cornell University. Please note that these requirements are subject to change, and additional restrictions may be instituted if the Cornell’s COVID-19 Alert Level changes. When offers are made, the program will notify students of the specific requirements in force at that moment, with the caveat that these may change before the start of, or in the course of, the program.

What

Up to ten undergraduate Research Assistantships to join a vibrant research community at Cornell's Department of Astronomy and the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science.

Who

United States citizens or permanent residents who have completed 1 to 3 years of undergraduate academic training by June 2023 and who will graduate at or after the end of the 2023 fall semester or quarter at their school are eligible.

Please note that our NSF grant does not allow us to accept applications from students who are not U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.

When

Summer 2023 - 10 week program

Tentative program dates: Monday, June 5, 2023 to Friday, August 11, 2023. Firm dates are contingent on the evolution of the pandemic and will be announced by February 28.

To get the most out of the program, it is best if students begin and end when the program does, but please let us know if you need accommodation due to your academic calendar. Dates may be adjusted if they conflict with students’ academic schedules.

Deadline to apply: February 3, 2023 at 5 pm EST.

Housing

Co-op summer availability is still to be determined by Cornell's Office of Co-Operative and Off-Campus Housing.
