Virginia & Ambinder, LLP

ILR High Road New York is a statewide program that aims to teach ILR students practical methods for civic engagement and leadership through economic justice, evidence-based policy, and strategic development that creates opportunity for community members to share in prosperity.  The Summer 2025 New York City (NYC) High Road Fellowship Program will run from June 2nd to August 1st, 2025. Students intern in person with various NYC partner organizations and will participate in weekly cohort workshops focused on critical reflection and peer-to-peer collaboration and networking and learning opportunities with guest speakers will be offered at ILR's NYC office on Lexington Avenue. All interns will be paid and need-based subsidized housing will be available

Virginia & Ambinder is a worker-side, Union-side law firm that represents individual workers, class actions and collective actions, labor unions, and labor union benefit funds. Our office in lower Manhattan serves clients throughout New York and New Jersey.

The intern will primarily work with Virginia & Ambinder’s union benefit funds practice and litigation related to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), but will also have the opportunity to observe and assist with wage-and-hour cases brought under New York Labor Law (NYLL), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and prevailing wage laws. The internship will focus on expanding and cultivating knowledge of issues arising under ERISA and other labor laws, as well as building familiarity and comfort with client interactions, litigation processes, and courtroom experience.
