There is a competitive application for this tuition-free opportunity.
Successful applicants will have
- strong academic, professional, and/or personal reasons to study at HKUST during the summer
- be able to benefit from the tuition waiver
- have an interest in promoting international study upon their return to Cornell
- commit to participating if selected
Students take 1-3 courses (3-9 credits) over the 8-week period. Depending on approval from the major and College students may earn liberal studies or major credit for the courses taken at HKUST.
IMPORTANT: HKUST is a "First Choice" opportunity. HKUST expects that the students we nominate are planning to attend as HKUST will be admitting students, arranging classroom space based on admission, and assisting with the visa process. Since the nomination comes up so soon after the application deadline, it does not work for students who want to consider HKUST as a back-up to other plans that they are actively pursuing. If selected, students must be able to commit the the HKUST Summer program by February 13, 2025.
