Location: Accra, Ghana
The University of Ghana is a Cornell Global Hubs partner and is the country’s oldest and largest university. With four colleges and multiple research centers, the university prioritizes climate change, public health, food security, and policy development.
As an intern at the University of Ghana, you will work on a research project under the supervision of a faculty member for eight weeks during the summer. In addition to the research, you'll be immersed in the culture and vibrancy of Accra, Ghana.
During summer 2026, students will be able to pursue research in the following areas:
- Family and consumer sciences: Study process engineering for innovative food products working with Joris G. Niilante Amissah, PhD '10. Topics may include post-harvest loss, food preservation, and packaging. Additional research opportunities may be available with the broader faculty of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Agrifood business: Intern with the university's Nutrition and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems Collaborative Project (NKABOM) to support education and agrifood business. The project is seeking entrepreneurship interns.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
