Cost
General
All accepted student researchers will be provided round-trip travel to/from NYC.
Pay
All accepted students will be paid a standard Cornell Tech hourly rate at 40 hours per week, which ranges from $6,000 - $7,500 for the entire summer. Pay will be distributed on a bi-weekly basis using the Cornell Non-Exempt Pay Calendar. Note that the first paycheck may not arrive for a full two weeks after arrival so summer participants should have some available funds to assist them the first few weeks.
Housing
Participants are responsible for acquiring their own housing, which can range from $700-$2,000 per month depending on roommates and room-type. If possible, it is recommended to search apartments together as roommates.
The rental market in NYC can be very intense and daunting for first-timers, where oftentimes, searching for an apartment within three weeks of move-in is the norm. If you are looking for apartment-style living off campus, there are several resources you may turn to from services that focus on short-term stays to private subletting. Typically, a personal contact is the best and safest method to obtain an apartment, but staff might be able to offer some additional resources.
As always, use caution and common sense when signing contracts from abroad. Never transfer large amounts of money without a clear understanding of the contract and try to use legitimate websites that offer insurance.
