Opportunity Description

Students Against the Sexual Solicitation of Youth (SASSY) is committed to raising awareness and transforming public perception of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). SASSY works directly with Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS), a non-profit agency in New York City, whose mission is to “empower girls and young women, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS is committed to ending commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact commercially sexually exploited youth.” SASSY is a program of the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement.

SASSY has engaged with the Cornell community while maintaining and strengthening its relationship with and support for GEMS. SASSY has hosted several workshops, discussions, and movie screenings for the Cornell community.
