Application Information:
Although there is no formal campus review process, all applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with a fellowships adviser, Krista Saleet before submitting their Schwarzman Scholars application.
Interested Cornell applicants should first carefully read the information provided on the official Schwarzman Scholars website (keep up-to-date with Schwarzman Scholars news and events here).
Applications should be submitted directly via the official website. The official application system typically opens in April. The official application deadlines for the fifth class of Schwarzman Scholars will be:
- 11:59pm Beijing Time, on May 19, 2025 Schwarzman Scholars China round, for applicants with passports from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macao
- 3pm EDT on September 11, 2025 Schwarzman Scholars US/Global round, for applicants holding other passports

Special Eligibility Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
- Refer to the Schwarzman website for age limit eligibility and graduation date eligibility.
- There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English.
In addition to the application itself, applicants are required to submit the following:
- Resume
- College transcript(s)
- Two essays (1. statement of purpose and leadership--up to 750 words and 2. a current affairs essay--up to 500 words)
- Three letters of recommendation
- Video (optional)
