Overview

Opportunity Description

Although a campus endorsement is not required to submit an application, all candidates applying to the Schwarzman Scholars Program are strongly encouraged to work with the Schwarzman advisor, Krista Saleet, ks2334@cornell.edu in preparing their applications.

Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, the Schwarzman Scholars Program was created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Whether in politics, business or science, the success of future leaders around the world will depend upon an understanding of China’s role in global trends. The program is intended to give the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a one-year master's degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities.

Students will live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly built, state-of-the-art facility, where all classes will be taught in English. Scholars are able to choose from a wide range of elective courses, and can opt to either create their own individualized academic plan or focus their electives in one of the major themes of the Schwarzman course offerings:

  • Public Policy
  • Economics and Business
  • International Studies

The Schwarzman Scholars program is open to applicants from any country.  Proficiency in Mandarin is not required, although having it is an asset; strong English language skills are required.
