Overview

Opportunity Description

The ILR Undergraduate Research Fellows Program provides ILR undergraduates with the opportunity to work with a professor during academic year 2024-2025. This program was developed in response to numerous requests we have received from undergraduates for research opportunities and in the hope that it will facilitate one-on-one student/faculty interactions. Students participating in this program will receive an hourly pay of $17 per hour for up to 10 hours a week. Awards will be made on a one semester basis with renewal possible for the second semester. Students may not earn credit for the research project during the semester or year they are being paid as a research assistant.

Regional Labor Law

This project seeks to explore the regional dimensions of labor law and highlight their significance in the context of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). While the NLRA is commonly perceived as a centralized federal system, its practical implementation occurs through regional offices. These offices possess discretionary powers that have not been extensively examined in labor law studies.

The Undergraduate Research Fellow (URF) will be responsible for crafting memos that provide an overview of the operations of National Labor Relations Board regional offices. This includes analyzing their interactions with both local and national stakeholders. Additionally, the URF will conduct a comprehensive review of relevant academic and legal literature. Successful completion of ILR2010 is a prerequisite for applicants. – with Professor Gali Racabi
