Remote for Summer 2021
The Worker Institute at Cornell engages in research and education on contemporary labor issues, to generate innovative thinking and solutions to problems related to work, economy, and society. The institute brings together researchers, educators and students with practitioners in labor, business and policymaking to confront growing economic and social inequalities, in the interests of working people and their families.
The Worker Institute has about 20 full time employees in offices in New York City and Buffalo.
THE PROJECT: The Research Fellow will assist in the production of a research report on gig-economy and digital platform labor in New York. The goal is to produce the first of a series of reports on “The State of Gig-Economy Workers in New York State.” The work will involve analysis of survey data collected through the Empire State Poll and other sources, as well as qualitative data from interviews and public forum presentations. The student will assist with both quantitative and qualitative (content) analysis, and report writing.
