Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship
ILR High Road New York is a statewide program that aims to teach ILR students practical methods for civic engagement and leadership through economic justice, evidence-based policy, and strategic development that creates opportunity for community members to share in prosperity. The Summer 2025 New York City (NYC) High Road Fellowship Program will run from June 2nd to August 1st, 2025. Students intern in person with various NYC partner organizations and will participate in weekly cohort workshops focused on critical reflection and peer-to-peer collaboration and networking and learning opportunities with guest speakers will be offered at ILR's NYC office on Lexington Avenue. All interns will be paid and need-based subsidized housing will be available.
The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Development Intern to join their team and assist with prospect development and grant writing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for their mission, strong research skills, and excellent writing abilities. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development while contributing to meaningful projects that directly support NFTE's goals.
The mission of NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) is to ignite the entrepreneurial mindset with unique learning experiences that empower students to own their futures. A global nonprofit founded in 1987, NFTE provides high-quality entrepreneurship education to middle school, high school, and postsecondary students. NFTE works to better prepare youth from underserved communities for careers and future educational opportunities by partnering with schools and community-based organizations to implement an innovative learning model where students develop both hard skills and soft skills to be career and future-ready.
NFTE seeks a driven and detail-oriented Development Intern to join our team and support key fundraising initiatives that empower youth through entrepreneurship education. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in nonprofit development, with a focus on prospect research, grant writing, and event support. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills, an interest in nonprofit fundraising, and a passion for our mission of igniting the entrepreneurial mindset in young people.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prospect Research
• Conduct thorough research to identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
• Create detailed donor profiles that include giving history, philanthropic interests, and capacity to give.
• Leverage various tools, platforms, and databases to gather relevant donor insights and identify funding opportunities.
2. Grant Writing Support
• Assist in drafting and submitting grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Collaborate with the Development team to gather essential data, program metrics, and success stories for compelling applications.
• Review and edit narratives to ensure clarity, alignment with donor priorities, and adherence to application guidelines.
3. Event Support
• Provide on-site support for NFTE’s flagship events, including the Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenges (June) and BizCamps (July into August) in the New York and Philadelphia metro areas.
• Contribute to event planning, logistics, participant recruitment, and preparation.
• Assist with program delivery and post-event follow-up to ensure a seamless experience for
participants and stakeholders.
4. Data Management and Reporting
• Update and maintain donor and prospect records in our CRM system.
• Assist in tracking donor engagement and fundraising progress to inform strategies and reports.
• Support the creation of development reports, presentations, and impact summaries for internal and external audiences.
