Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship

ILR High Road New York is a statewide program that aims to teach ILR students practical methods for civic engagement and leadership through economic justice, evidence-based policy, and strategic development that creates opportunity for community members to share in prosperity.  The Summer 2024 New York City (NYC) High Road Fellowship Program will run from June 4th to July 26th. Students intern in person with various NYC partner organizations and will participate in weekly cohort workshops focused on critical reflection and peer-to-peer collaboration and networking and learning opportunities with guest speakers will be offered at ILR's NYC office on Lexington Avenue. All interns will be paid and need-based subsidized housing will be available

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Development Intern to join their team and assist with prospect development and grant writing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for their mission, strong research skills, and excellent writing abilities. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development while contributing to meaningful projects that directly support NFTE's goals.

The mission of NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) is to ignite the entrepreneurial mindset with unique learning experiences that empower students to own their futures. A global nonprofit founded in 1987, NFTE provides high-quality entrepreneurship education to middle school, high school, and postsecondary students. NFTE works to better prepare youth from underserved communities for careers and future educational opportunities by partnering with schools and community-based organizations to implement an innovative learning model where students develop both hard skills and soft skills to be career and future-ready.

Key responsibilities:

Prospect Research

  • Conduct research to identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Compile comprehensive profiles on prospective donors, including their giving history, interests, and capacity to give.
  • Utilize various research tools and databases to gather relevant information and insights.

Grant Writing support

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather necessary information and data for grant applications.
  • Write compelling narratives that effectively communicate our organization's mission, programs, and impact.

On-Site Event Support

  • Assist with the NFTE Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenges (June) and BizCamps in both the New York and Philadelphia metro areas (July into August), helping with recruitment, preparation, delivery, and follow-up for the summer programs.

The NFTE office is located on 120 Wall St. 18th Fl., New York, NY 10005. Please note this position will be hybrid, working closely with NFTE supervisor.
