Harlem Business Alliance

ILR High Road New York is a statewide program that aims to teach ILR students practical methods for civic engagement and leadership through economic justice, evidence-based policy, and strategic development that creates opportunity for community members to share in prosperity.  The Summer 2024 New York City (NYC) High Road Fellowship Program will run from June 3rd to July 26th. Students intern in person with various NYC partner organizations and will participate in weekly cohort workshops focused on critical reflection and peer-to-peer collaboration and networking and learning opportunities with guest speakers will be offered at ILR's NYC office on Lexington Avenue. All interns will be paid and need-based subsidized housing will be available

The Harlem Business Alliance (HBA), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit established in 1980, creates environments and opportunities that produce successful entrepreneurs and creates jobs for local residents. HBA is dedicated to enriching the local business community, with an emphasis on Black owned businesses through education, support and advocacy. We believe local businesses create better communities and we inspire Black entrepreneurs to grow their roots not just locally but globally. HBA has 6 employees and serves low income Harlem and NYC residents. HBA is seeking an intern whose responsibilities will include: 

  • Research potential HBA partnerships/sponsors
  • Research and creating a list of businesses we could support and promote on our social channels
  • General research on community needs
  • Day to day assistance with programming (Youth and Adult programs)
