Cornell Prison Education Program
ILR High Road New York is statewide program that aims to teach ILR students practical methods for civic & community engagement and leadership. The High Road Ithaca Program offers students paid community engaged internships with partner organizations committed to social and environmental justice, diversity and equity, access and education in Ithaca and surrounding areas during the fall or spring semesters. Students work 5-10 hours a week and participate in critical reflection activities throughout the semester.
The mission of the Cornell Prison Education Program (CPEP) is to provide courses leading to college degrees for people incarcerated in upstate New York State prisons; to help CPEP students build meaningful lives inside prison as well as prepare for successful re-entry into civic life; and to inform thought and action on social justice issues among past and present CPEP students, volunteers, and the wider public.
The CPEP fellow will assist with the Restorative Record (RR), developed and created by CPEP Alumni, Jodi Anderson. The RR tool serves the justice impacted community in employability responsiveness through digital profile and pdf creation. The intern will work on surveys, assist with navigation and data entry, and assisting new users/clients with RR. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in social justice advocacy in the criminal justice system, culturally competent, team-oriented and has ability to work independently.
