Overview
Host organization: Center for Khmer Studies
Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) promotes research, teaching, and public service in the social sciences, arts, and humanities in Cambodia and the Mekong region. Since its opening in 2001, CKS has specialized in the preservation of Cambodian and Southeast Asian history and culture. Their work is a response to the country's crisis in the preservation of literary heritage following decades of civil war and the targeted destruction of its educational resources.
Under the supervision and guidance of the head librarian, you will work in the following areas:
- Capacity building: Design and develop workshop concepts and content focused on digital and ICT literacy to enhance the skills of Cambodian librarians.
- Digital project support: Contribute to a new digitization project by assisting with collection organization, file management, and metadata creation and standardization.
- Resource curation: Identify and evaluate relevant open-access resources, academic databases, and recent publications focusing on Southeast Asia for potential acquisition or inclusion in the CKS Library collection.
- Editorial assistance: Provide dedicated research and editorial support to CKS Junior Resident Fellows by reviewing, editing, and formatting draft research papers and manuscripts for clarity and academic consistency.
CKS is seeking students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in library and information science, digital humanities, or any related field. A strong interest in Southeast Asian history, culture, or research is highly desirable.
