Host organization: Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa
Location: Margibi, Liberia
Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA) was established in 2012 by Liberian peace activist, trained social worker, and Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee. They provide opportunities in three key areas to women and youth, as a way to ensure that future generations in Liberia are peaceful, reconciled, and empowered. These program areas are: Education, Leadership, Community Empowerment.
As an intern, you'll work on a USAID project on gender, health, policy, education, peace, and transitional justice. You'll have the opportunity to work with Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee on multiple research projects.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
