Host organization: Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa
Location: Margibi, Liberia
Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA) was established in 2012 by Liberian peace activist, trained social worker, and Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee. The foundation provides opportunities for women and youth in Education, Leadership, and Community Empowerment to ensure that future generations in Liberia are peaceful, reconciled, and empowered.
As an intern, you'll bring your interest in Africa, government, gender, peace and reconcilitation, and/or rural development to Gbowee Foundation projects. This may include working with teams and independently on leadership modules, office assignments, projects in mentoring, gender lab, community empowerment, and peace and conflict resolution.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required for this role.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
