Interested in communications, libraries, and Cambodian people and culture? This internship with the Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in communications and library services.
CKS promotes research, teaching and public service in the social sciences, arts, and humanities in Cambodia and the Mekong region. Since its opening in 2001, CKS has specialized in the preservation of Cambodian and Southeast Asian history and culture. Their work is a response to the country's crisis in the preservation of literary heritage following decades of civil war and the targeted destruction of its educational resources.
As a Global Intern, you’ll be a part of CKS’s small team and your work will flexible and broad-ranging, giving you the opportunity to explore your current skills and gain new ones. Work may include:
- Communications/marketing:
- Social media: Draft posts, design graphics, take photos and videos for CKS’s social media channels.
- Newsletters: Contribute content to the monthly CKS newsletter.
- Editorial work: Assist with proofreading and editing research papers and publications by CKS’s Junior Resident Fellows.
- Event support: Provide logistical and technical support for online and in-person events. Capture photos and videos of events and programs.
- Library services:
- Digital asset management: Support the planning and implementation of digitization projects by assisting with collection of materials, file management, and metadata standardization.
- Library acquisition: Identify and evaluate open-access resources, academic databases, and Southeast Asian publication for integration into the library collection.
- Admin tasks: Help develop library user surveys and reports.
CKS is looking for a student currently studying communications, journalism, marketing, media studies, library and information science, digital humanities, or a related field. Successful candidates should be open to learning new skills and gaining new experiences, with adaptability to new cultures and environments.
