Overview
Host organization: Center for Khmer Studies
Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) promotes research, teaching and public service in the social sciences, arts and humanities in Cambodia and the Mekong region. Since its opening in 2001, CKS has specialized in the preservation of Cambodian and Southeast Asian history and culture. Their work is a response to the country's crisis in the preservation of literary heritage following decades of civil war and the targeted destruction of its educational resources.
This six-week internship supports the research of the 2024 Cambodian Junior Fellows and assists the CKS library team. As an intern, you will work to develop ideas for CKS and the CKS library to expand its digital presence, including assisting in the production and posting of media content for social media, email campaigns, the CKS website, and the CKS newsletter. You may also assist in organizing online and in-person events by updating the event calendar/report, collecting materials for event announcements, hosting Zoom meetings/webinars, and managing Facebook Live.
This work will be done under the supervision and guidance of the marketing and communications officer.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
