Dyson Grand Challenges Impact Internship: Finger Lakes ReUse

The Dyson Grand Challenges Program team will serve as a liaison between the intern and the internship host. The intern, a student employee of Cornell University, will focus on the outlined duties working with a mentor from Finger Lakes ReUse (FLR). This opportunity is exclusively available to Dyson undergraduates.

Term:

The internship will take place during Cornell University’s summer break. The anticipated dates are May 17, 2026 – August 24, 2026, though timing is flexible. On average, the intern should expect to work approximately 15–20 hours per week, totaling around 150 hours for the summer.

Operations Performance & Analytics Intern

Internship Purpose:

This internship supports the advancement of operational efficiency and sustainability initiatives at Finger Lakes ReUse. The intern will analyze business performance data, develop dashboards and onboarding tools, and complete a collaborative partner analysis to help FLR achieve the priorities outlined in its recently adopted Strategic Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business performance datastreams to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop dashboards and visual tools to communicate key performance metrics to stakeholders
  • Streamline scheduling processes and create scalable onboarding tools for staff
  • Complete a collaborative analysis report of partners in Tompkins County
  • Support Strategic Plan reporting and other operational initiatives 

Qualifications:

  • Marketing & Communications: Ability to communicate findings clearly through narrative reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Research Synthesis & Storytelling: Comfort with analyzing datasets, synthesizing insights, and creating actionable recommendations.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Interest in nonprofit operations, sustainability, and supporting community-based initiatives.
  • Independent & Remote Work: Comfortable working independently in a hybrid/remote environment, managing time effectively, and collaborating virtually or in person.
  • Mission Alignment & Curiosity: Strong interest in social impact, sustainability, and organizational efficiency, with a willingness to contribute to real-world operational improvements.
