Opportunity Description

The Dyson Grand Challenges Program team will serve as a liaison between the intern and the internship host. The intern, a student employee of Cornell University, will focus on the outlined duties working with a mentor from the Cornell Raptor Program (CRP). This opportunity is exclusively available to Dyson undergraduates.

Term:

The internship will take place during Cornell University’s summer break. The anticipated dates are May 18, 2026 – July 10, 2026, though timing is flexible. On average, the intern should expect to work approximately 20–30 hours per week, totaling around 150 hours for the summer.

Type:

Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid (interns may work fully remote, from campus, or at the raptor facilities; computers available onsite; access to phone/internet required if remote)

Compensation:

Hourly: $19.00

Program Strategy & Development Intern

Internship Purpose:

This internship supports the strategic renewal of the Cornell Raptor Program, focusing on fundraising, marketing, communications, and program development to sustain and enhance the program. The intern will help implement initiatives, develop outreach and grant opportunities, and contribute to a proposal for a new CRP facility that strengthens education, conservation, and long-term program sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and identify fundraising and donor program opportunities, including grants
  • Implement fundraising initiatives, which may include drafting proposals, online campaigns, or hosting events
  • Support marketing and communications, including newsletters, social media, and outreach to alumni/community partners
  • Research legal and regulatory considerations related to potential new facilities
  • Prepare a final report or presentation summarizing project outcomes and next steps
  • Collaborate with CRP staff, volunteers, and students to ensure initiatives are feasible, sustainable, and aligned with program needs

Qualifications:

Program Strategy & Development: Ability to support strategic initiatives, translate research into actionable plans, and contribute to long-term program sustainability.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Experience or interest in developing grant proposals, campaigns, or donor programs to secure funding and support organizational goals.

Marketing & Communications: Skilled at creating clear, engaging content for diverse audiences across newsletters, social media, and outreach campaigns.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable collaborating with students, volunteers, alumni, and community partners to ensure initiatives are feasible, inclusive, and impactful.

Independent & Remote Work: Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively in hybrid, on-site, or remote environments while collaborating with a small team.

Mission Alignment & Curiosity: Strong interest in wildlife conservation, educational programming, and volunteer-supported initiatives, with a willingness to learn, problem-solve, and contribute to sustainable outcomes.
