Opportunity Description

From the great auteurs in European filmmaking to the provocateurs of the contemporary art scene, capture the ideas of intellectual and aesthetic movements. In this program, discover visual culture and artistic expression in Nordic and European settings.

What is unique about this program?

  • Meet with Danish and European directors and artists to critically discuss the roles of art and cinema in Europe
  • Travel with classmates and DIS faculty on course-integrated study tours to identify subversive artistic expression in contemporary Europe
  • Strengthen your ability to analyze specific works and evaluate how artists are expanding the traditional use of media

What is unique about Copenhagen?

  • DIS is in the heart of a Medieval city.  On your way to class you will be surrounded by walking streets, canals lined with colorful houses, public gardens with castles, and spires dotting the skyline.
  • Old meets new: Copenhagen matches 16th century architecture with modern and inventive urban spaces - well-planned bike lanes, harbor baths, skate parks, food markets, and more.
  • Watch videos on DIS's YouTube channel for a more in-depth look at the city.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students
