What you should know before applying:

  • Cornell students from all colleges and majors are welcome to apply!
  • Applicants that have completed their freshman year (or 2 academic semesters) are eligible to participate.
  • CIW is not an internship placement program. Participants secure their own internship with assistance from CIW. 
  • Program cost, dates and deadlines.
  • Before choosing any courses, be sure to check with you advisor or department about how credits and courses will apply to your major.
  • Undergraduate participants must live in the CIW building, Wolpe Center.

  2. Attend a CIW event or 1:1 meeting  
  3. Receive acceptance to the program 
  4. Sign our MOU committing to the program and securing a spot for the summer. This is a first come, first served process. Though we rarely fill our summer program, it is possible you may be added to a waitlist.
  5. Complete Housing form 
    1. PLEASE NOTE: If you require a disability-related housing accommodation, please submit a request to SDS by the following deadlines: Fall - June 1st, Spring - November 1st, Summer - April 1st. If you submit a request after the deadline, SDS and CIW can still work with you to try to identify an appropriate housing option, however availability will be more limited. We can put you on a waiting list to be reassigned to a room that meets your needs, but cannot guarantee one will become available.   6. Course Enrollment
  7. Attend Pre-Departure meeting
  8. Complete Pre-Arrival form
  9. Submit payment in full
