Overview
Open to: Undergraduate students currently enrolled in the College of Engineering and Biological or Environmental Engineering (BEE) majors.
Undergraduate engineering students and their faculty mentors may apply for semester or summer funding awards, administered through Cornell Engineering's Office of Inclusive Excellence, to support undergraduate research engagement. Funds may be used to provide student wages or to cover project expenses.
Our goal is to enable as many students as possible to benefit from an undergraduate research experience at Cornell.
Spring 2026 Funding Cycle
Faculty application deadline: Tuesday, December 2, by midnight
Student application deadline: Thursday, December 4, by midnight
Award selections will be determined by early January 2026.
The student must apply along side a faculty mentor. Additional information, including guidelines for successful applications, can be found on the Engineering Undergraduate Research Grants Program webpage.
Standard Award Amounts
Fall or spring semester award
- Maximum student wages amount: $2,250
- Maximum expenses amount: $1,000
- If requesting funds for both wages and expenses, maximum amount: $2,750
Summer award
- Maximum student wages amount: $6,700
- Maximum expenses amount: $2,000
- If requesting funds for both wages and expenses, maximum amount: $8,600
