Overview
A year-long program for CHE undergraduates from the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research. Take what you have learned in the classroom and apply it in communities to solve real-world problems and improve the lives of others. That process is the foundation of translational research, and you’ll learn about it as a BCTR Scholar. A BCTR Scholar is a Cornell Human Ecology student who…
- is passionate about research and what it can do in a community
- is curious about the Tompkins County community
- is dedicated to the Cornell Human Ecology vision of becoming citizens and scholars who use research to anticipate, analyze and address contemporary societal problems
Students will take courses to learn about translational research (3 credits) and prepare for a summer internship (1 credit) in the Spring semester. In the summer, students are matched with a local nonprofit where they complete a paid summer internship in Ithaca working on translational research related to human health and thriving. In the fall, students complete a reflection course (1 credit) to complete and disseminate results related to their experience.
