Overview

Opportunity Description

Study at a UK Top 20 university and immerse yourself in the culture of the most complete medieval city in England.

What is unique about this program?

Since it admitted its first students in 1963, the University of East Anglia has established a reputation as one of the top universities in the U.K. It offers first class teaching and research opportunities and is a very popular choice with U.S. students who wish to spend a semester or year studying in England.  The UEA campus was designed so that everything you need for living and studying is no more than a few minutes away. The UEA campus is a mini city, and home to a unique, multi-cultural community that enjoys and contributes to, a lively, social and cultural scene.

Visiting students may choose courses within the Schools of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences.  It will be expected that at least 2/3 of your courses will be in a single subject area.  You will be expected to take a full load of courses, which is typically three courses at UEA, and this should transfer back to Cornell as 15 credits.

What is unique about Norwich?

Voted in 2014 as one of Britain's top 10 best cities, located between picturesque coastal landscapes and a wealth of countryside, Norwich is a surprisingly bustling city. Always a good place for a night out, the city life offers a variety of good-value restaurants, stylish cafe bars, theaters, nightclubs and festivals.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

  1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
  2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
