Overview

Opportunity Description

An opportunity to study liberal arts courses on a small program within a larger international university, offering you the best of both worlds.

What is unique about this program?

The Swedish Program poses a compelling intellectual and cultural challenge: to develop an understanding of how Sweden addresses political, economic, social, and artistic issues relevant to all advanced societies. This challenge reflects Sweden's impressive history of innovative responses to issues such as financial downturns, environmental protection, immigration, health-care, education, and gender equality.

The program's objective is to promote a comprehensive view highlighting the country's achievements as well as its contemporary problems. Students and scholars come from all over the world to study Sweden. The country's appeal extends beyond its social and political institutions to its rich traditions in the arts, humanities, and science.

It is a small program within a larger international university allowing it to bring you the best of both worlds. For example, students take small classes - taught in English - and get to know their professors and other students from around the globe. At the same time, as registered Stockholm School of Economics students, you have the benefits of being part of a large campus with access to all of SSE's facilities, events, student clubs, and social activities.

What is unique about Stockholm?

The capital city of Stockholm is beautiful and unique: located on 14 islands, it is home to some of the best museums, cultural institutions, restaurants, and night spots in the world.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

  1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
  2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
