Open to:
- Cornell Undergraduate Students
**Only current Rawlings Cornell Presidential Research Scholars in good standing may apply for support account funding**
Before starting the application process, you will need to:
- Complete the Support Account Canvas course.
- Contact the program director about the experience and determine if it falls within the program guidelines
- Secure a position (do not apply based on a potential position)
- Have details about your experience including:
- Location
- Dates of experience
- Direct supervisor contact information
- If doing research on-campus - you are required to obtain an endorsement from your faculty mentor.
- If doing research off-campus - you must obtain endorsements from BOTH your current faculty mentor and Supervisor.
- All budget costs (housing, transportation, food, etc.)
- If any visas or immunizations are necessary, etc.
- Verification that your health insurance will provide coverage, especially if at a non-US location
We encourage you to sign up for direct deposit via the Bursar.
After completing the application:
- The application system will notify the program director when the application is complete.
- You can check your application status. Applications will not be reviewed until all components have been completed.
- It is the student's responsibility to follow-up on endorsements. Endorsement forms should be completed by the supervisor of the upcoming experience to confirm the dates and responsibilities of the experience.
- After the program director reviews your application, you will get an email notifying you of the decision. Approval is at program director’s discretion.
- Consider applying for a 'Student Contribution Waiver'. Students who participate in qualifying Experience Cornell opportunities during the summer semester may be eligible for a one-time waiver of their annual student contribution (a.k.a. summer savings/work expectation) – up to $2,400 – assigned by the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment in their financial aid package for the academic year immediately following the qualifying experience.
Learn More and Request a Waiver. To be eligible for a waiver, you must:
- be enrolled as a first-, second-, or third- year undergraduate in the current academic year.
- submit a complete waiver application no later than May 15th of the current academic year.
- participate in an eligible Experience Cornell opportunity in the summer semester immediately following a request for a waiver.
- be an institutional aid recipient with a non-zero student contribution in the upcoming academic year.
Please note:
- **An ITART petition is still required for travel to destinations considered to be elevated risk destinations. Students are responsible for understanding and following complex border restrictions and entry and re-entry requirements. Travel insurance is strongly encouraged.
- Post-experience materials must be submitted within two weeks of the end date or the student’s bursar account may be charged back the amount received.
