Overview

Opportunity Description

Calling all first- and second-year Cornellians: Carry out a research project of your choice, develop leadership skills, experience new cultures, and be a force for good—all fully funded.

In partnership with the Laidlaw Foundation, Cornell is offering the Laidlaw Leadership and Research Scholars Program. With its focus on ethical leadership and international research, the program helps you assert your place in the world as an active global citizen and reinvest your skills, knowledge, and experience to help others.

The program’s key components are:

  1. An internationally-focused research project, proposed by you or selected from our list of faculty projects. (Summer 1)
  2. Leadership training that continues throughout your two years as a Laidlaw Scholar. Scholars will earn a certificate in Community-Engaged Leadership.
  3. A leadership-in-action experience that takes you abroad, introducing you to different life experiences and expanding your perspective. (Summer 2)
  4. Connection to an international network of like-minded scholars.

Application Deadline, January 30, 2023 (11:59pm).
