  • Second Year (undergrad)
  • Third Year (undergrad)
  • Fourth Year + (undergrad)

Open to:

  • Cornell Undergraduate Students

GPA Requirements:

Minimum GPA: 3.00

Program-specific Requirements

  • Must have completed at least one year of college-level Japanese for the fall semester, and three semesters for the spring semester, or the equivalent
  • All students must be placed into an appropriate language course (2nd, 3rd or 4th Year Japanese).
  • Minimum 3.0 average language GPA
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher during the semester before going abroad.

IMPORTANT: Students who are fluent in Japanese, or above the 4th year level, are not eligible to study at KCJS

General Global Learning Requirements

  • be able to study abroad and graduate on time
  • meet the requirements of the program for admission
  • meet college requirements for approval

College-specific Requirements

Colleges may also have specific requirements for study abroad (GPA, prior study at Cornell, ability to study abroad in your final semester, etc.). Learn about your college's policies.

For example, your college may have a higher GPA requirement for approval than what is required by the program itself. Most notably, students in Arts & Sciences must fulfill language and area study requirements prior to studying abroad for a semester.
