Opportunity Description

Immigration, Race, and Workplace Precarity Immigration status is a well-documented driver of immigrant worker inequality that shapes working conditions and workers’ propensity to make claims against their employers when faced with workplace rights abuses.  The objective of this interview-based research project is to determine not only how immigration status affects workers’ experience at work, but also how it intersects with other key factors such as race/immigrant origin, gender and local political context.  Fellows will conduct a variety of research tasks including organizing data, analyzing interviews and research immigration and low-wage worker policy issues.  Applicants must have strong proficiency in either Spanish or Kreyol. – Students will work with Director of ILR's Worker Institute: Patricia Campos-Medina, Professor Shannon Gleeson, and Professor Kate Griffith.
