Overview
Program Background:
ILR’s Labor and Employment Law Program (LEL) merges law and social science research to provide attorneys, legislators, social scientists, and policymakers with multifaceted perspectives at forums and conferences. Current and emerging legal issues affecting the workplace are analyzed with the goal of influencing research, legislation, policy, and litigation.
Research Description:
Four fellows will research NYS MRTA law’s impact on social equity and labor and employment relations throughout NYS. Work will include research on policies and guidelines issued by the Office of Cannabis Management, new legislation related to/amending MRTA, NYS DOL regulations with respect to cannabis, workplace impact of new drug testing regulations, etc. Work also may include analyzing the impact of the new guidelines in NY and other states on communities disproportionately impacted by former drug laws.
