Program Background:

The Worker Institute at Cornell engages in research and education on contemporary labor issues, to generate innovative thinking and solutions to problems related to work, economy and society. The Institute brings together researchers, educators and students with practitioners in labor, business and policy-making to confront growing economic and social inequalities, in the interests of working people and their families. Outreach has a 40+ staff presence in the New York City office.

Research Description:  Content Analysis of Union Members Training on Promoting Workplace Respect and Preventing Workplace Harassment

Using a content analysis approach – categorize workshop evaluation data from over 1500 participants, who are forepersons and superintendents. During the pandemic, the Worker Institute provided workshops to meet a six hour collectively bargained training on diversity and inclusion by a joint labor/management Electrical Trust Fund. Student will be asked to summarize themes in the working document. Student will be asked to code up to 3000 responses to the survey using SPSS and then conduct basic analysis.
