Academics

Courses that are offered as part of WIISP are short term and designed to be very intensive in nature.  Additionally, each course is only offered at a specific location.  Students should expect one to two weeks of daily face-to-face sessions and one to two weeks of online activities for the course in which they enroll.  Students need to be physically present at the teaching location for the full teaching period, but not for the online activities.  Some courses may have a longer in-person teaching period.

ILR students participating in this program can only select from certain courses outlined below.

Do not apply to WIISP on Warwick's website.  Because you are applying as an exchange student, there is a different application process.  You must complete the ILR application first.

Academic Policies

  • Students will enroll in one or two courses (depending on availability), and students must enroll in all courses for credit. Consult with the program advisor in ILR, Tamara Ingram, if you are interested in taking more than one course.
  • Enrollment cannot be changed, so students are responsible for confirming their eligibility for a particular course.  If you are not sure about your eligibility, consult with the program advisor in ILR, Tamara Ingram.
  • Enrollment cannot be guaranteed in a particular course, as enrollment is dependent upon availability.
  • Students will earn 3.75 credits for one course.
  • Some courses may be able to qualify for ILR elective credit; courses have to be reviewed to determine whether they might be able to qualify for ILR elective credit.  These credits would apply towards your allowed out of college ILR elective credits.
  • Students will receive credit for academic coursework completed abroad that is equivalent to a Cornell grade of "C."
  • Students cannot take courses as Pass/Fail.
  • All courses and grades will appear on the Cornell transcript in the same format as they are recorded on the original transcript generated by the host institution.
  • Grades are not calculated in the overall GPA.
