Opportunity Description

Host Organization: Imperial College London

The International Research Opportunities Programme (IROP) is a summer research program with Imperial College London, a Cornell Global Hubs partner, that provides engineering students at Cornell with international research experience.

Interns with IROP will:

  • Spend 6-8 weeks in a challenging and supportive research setting in downtown London
  • Work with world-renowned researchers on cutting-edge projects
  • Participate in special events for IROP summer research students coming from selected partner institutions
  • Receive pre-departure support and assistance with visas, accommodation, and registration from Imperial College London

Program Dates

  • Monday, July 1, 2024: IROP begins, orientation session to welcome all participants, followed by a lab induction in departments.
  • August 10-11, 2024: Check-out of accommodation
  • August 12-23, 2024: Research project continued remotely from home country
  • August 23, 2024: IROP ends

Exact dates for each partner scheme are confirmed each year. Students selected for IROP must be available for the entire period. The final one to two weeks of the project will be completed virtually to enable students to return to Cornell for the fall semester.

Funding for this opportunity is available through the College of Engineering. 

Info Sessions

The IROP program will have a virtual information session for interested students on Wednesday, November 8 at 9 a.m. (ET).  Interested students should register for the opportunity in advance.
