What is unique about this program?

• Delve into a cross-cultural approach to childhood and adolescence and reflect on the unique Nordic pedagogy of ‘the good childhood’

• Travel with your classmates and DIS faculty on course-integrated study tours to explore cross-cultural European educational methods by visiting practitioners, researchers, and childcare and youth institutions

• Develop interpersonal competencies in your weekly practicum by engaging actively with a Danish childcare institution, public school, or a high school

• DIS is in the heart of a Medieval city.  On your way to class you will be surrounded by walking streets, canals lined with colorful houses, public gardens with castles, and spires dotting the skyline.

• Old meets new: Copenhagen matches 16th century architecture with modern and inventive urban spaces - well-planned bike lanes, harbor baths, skate parks, food markets, and more.

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.
