Billing Overview
As a winter 2025 participant, you are billed Cornell winter tuition.
If accepted, in order to commit to the program you will be required to pay a nonrefundable deposit in the amount of $500 within seven days. This non-refundable deposit represents a set portion of the program fee. The balance of your program fee will be billed by the Office of Global Learning and due in full for winter programs by November 1.
You will directly pay additional costs either prior to arrival or on-site. These may include visa, round-trip airfare, meals, books, and other personal expenses.
Budget Breakdown
The Office of Global Learning provides the below estimated budget so you can understand the costs of your program and how they will be paid. The estimated budget indicates which study abroad costs are billable through Cornell or out of pocket.
Charges that you will pay directly to the Office of Global Learning but will not appear on your bursar bill:
- Program Fee: this covers housing and may cover some program activities
Charges that will appear on your bursar bill:
- Winter Program Tuition: billed at $1,840 per credit hour enrolled
Estimated additional costs paid directly by the student, such as:
- Round-trip airfare
- Meals
- Books, local transportation, and other personal expenses

National Scholarships
This program is eligible for funding from a variety of sources. Pay close attention to eligibility criteria and deadlines as many applications are due well ahead of the experience. As well, funding decisions can take several weeks, and students should plan ahead to ensure they can still follow the payment schedule required by the program.
- Fund for Education Abroad – Funds available to U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. (Estimated Deadlines: Every September and January)
- Gilman Scholarship - Funds available to U.S. Citizens who are PELL grant recipients. Other eligibility and COVID travel restrictions may apply. Please visit Gilman site for complete information. (Estimated Deadlines: Every October and March)

Financial Aid
Visiting students: Cornell University does not offer financial aid for visiting students on summer study abroad programs. We encourage you to contact your home school to discuss your options, including federal or private student loans.
