About the Scholarship

The William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship at the American University in Dubai seeks to further the goals of the Clinton Presidential Foundation to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. In partnership with the American University in Dubai, the program will provide American students based in the US the opportunity to expand their educational and cultural horizons by studying in the Arab world.

What is unique about the American University of Dubai?

The American University in Dubai was founded in 1995, following the desire to create opportunities for private American-style higher education in the Persian Gulf region.  AUD is accredited in the U.S. and in the UAE, and its business program has IACBE accreditation.  Now AUD attracts over 5,000 students from approximately 120 countries.  AUD's curriculum is skills-directed and career oriented.

The AUD campus is situated next to Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, and the Palm Islands and encompasses three academic buildings, a Student Center, an administration building, residence halls, a cafeteria area, and an open air sports facilities.[4]

About Dubai

The second largest of the seven emirates which make up the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is located on the southern shore of the Arabian Gulf. It has an area of some 3,900 square kilometers.  Outside the city itself, the emirate is sparsely inhabited and characterized by desert vegetation, as explained by the Dubai Tourism Department; Dubai is popular with tourists and business people alike. As a thriving business hub, the government has set up industry-specific free zones that continue to attract business people from all over the world. AUD is strategically situated next to Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, business communities that are home to such prestigious firms as Sony, Reuters, CNN, McGraw Hill Publishing, Microsoft, Oracle and IBM.
