Overview

Opportunity Description

Surround yourself with the language, culture, and people of the vibrant, international Kreuzberg district – a hub for the arts, music, and digital technology.

What is unique about the program?

  • Select courses from different academic tracks: Business; Communications, Journalism & New Media; International Relations & Political Science; Language, Literature & Culture; Sustainability and Environmental Sciences; or Global and Community Health.
  • Most courses are taught in English. Participate in two-night, three-day study tours each block to another region in Germany or to a neighboring country.
  • Meet young Berliners through a vibrant language exchange; volunteer with one of our community service partners; or discover your own passion with an interest group in music, sports, art, or film.
  • Live in the recently renovated residence hall or request a homestay
  • Explore the hidden corners of German culture, art, and society through extra-curricular activities each week.
  • Take two classes at a time for six weeks over three blocks. Cornell students must stay in Berlin for the three 6-week blocks for full semester credit

What is unique about the location?

In Berlin, no matter how you build your program, you'll surround yourself with the language, culture, and people of the vibrant Kreuzberg district – a hub for the arts, techno, and digital technology. The campus features a newly renovated former factory, study in state-of-the-art classrooms, and opportunities to get involved with activities, interest groups, and sports activities designed to connect you with the local community. Plus, you'll have plenty of chances to get out and learn about Berlin and Germany up close during included excursions and Study-Tours.

The thriving global city of Berlin is home to nearly 3.5 million people. Live among the locals and see for yourself why Berlin is ranked among the top for global urban quality-of-life – with excellent public transportation, you’ll have no problem exploring the city’s parks, orchestras, museums, festivals, and historical landmarks.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

  1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
  2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
