Overview

Opportunity Description

The Euro might be the money you carry around, but the real currency of Venice is art, architecture, water...and magic. Students who go on our Venice Studio Arts program usually come back with a dreamy look in their eye and a rueful smile that says they have seen more beauty in a single semester than they could hope to recount.

The Venice Studio Arts Program offers coursework in graphic design or painting in a city whose museums, walkways, and canals form a truly unique classroom. Unlike other art programs in Italy, in which American students only work and study with other Americans, BU in Venice is based on interaction with the Italian community of students, teachers, and artists as well as working with Boston University professors.

The program gives art students a "first residency" in a challenging and professional environment.

Why Venice?

  • A major artistic and cultural capital of the Renaissance
  • All courses are taught by international faculty at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica
  • Specialization in painting and graphic design
  • Glassblowing offered on the world famous island of Murano
  • Students live in fully furnished apartments in the heart of the "city of light and color"

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students
