Requirements
Open to:
- Cornell Undergraduate Students
 
Eligibility:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
 - Junior or senior standing
 - Grade of B+ or higher in the course for which you are applying to be a teaching apprentice
 
Policies:
- Students may take 0.5 to 3 credits per section of Brooks PUBPOL 4030 teaching apprenticeship.
 - Students may participate in multiple Brooks PUBPOL Special Studies (4000, 4010, or 4020) or Teaching Apprenticeships (4030) in a given semester, not to exceed 6 credits total per semester.
 - Students may not earn credit more than once for serving as a teaching apprentice in the same course.
 - Students may not take and serve as a teaching apprentice for the same course during the same semester.
 - Teaching apprentices must meet weekly with the supervising instructor, either one-on-one or in a group setting.
 
Permitted Responsibilities (under instructor supervision):
- Leading discussion sections or demonstrations
- Instructors must provide extensive training.
 - Instructors must observe at least two sessions during the semester to evaluate the apprentice's performance.
 
 - Grading
- Teaching apprentices may assist with exam scoring only under close supervision and in collaboration with others involved in grading.
 - They may provide preliminary reviews of papers and research projects but may not assign final grades.
 
 - Office hours
- Teaching apprentices may hold office hours to support students, as coordinated with the supervising instructor.
