(Important: applicants must return to continue their studies at Cornell in Fall 2026 in order to qualify. May 2026 graduates cannot apply.)
Key Responsibilities:
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with supervisors to identify studies from our research vault of past work to feature in blog posts.
- Draft clear, engaging blog posts that summarize the key findings and recommendations from each selected study. Write drafts of blog posts, each about one of the selected studies.
- Code and analyze open-ended responses and interview transcripts from studies exploring the information needs of policy makers and the public regarding emerging climate technologies.
- Provide additional support to supervisors during their summer research projects This could include designing and running a new experiment or study, conducting a short literature review, and commenting on documents.
- Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a degree program with coursework in natural sciences, psychology, sociology, communication, or other behavioral and social sciences.
- Experience in statistical analysis and research methods. Excellent written communication skills.
- Familiarity with basic data visualization tools like Excel.
- Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Experience with coding qualitative data that meets the standards of peer-reviewed publications is a plus.
- Fluency in one or more of the following is a plus: French, German, (modern) Greek, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Spanish.
- Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
Location: Hybrid out of an EDF office in New York, NY, with the option to be U.S. Remote. Preference for hybrid option. Intern Supervisor is in New York, NY. (Hybrid means must be physically present in location throughout internship, coming into the office an agreed number of days/week. US Remote means must be physically located in the US while working the internship.)
Term: Summer 2026 (10 weeks)
Hours: Full-time (35 hr/week)
$7,000 stipend is provided.
