(Important: applicants must return to continue their studies at Cornell in Fall 2026 in order to qualify. May 2026 graduates cannot apply.)

Key Responsibilities:
Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Research and extract data and case studies from public facing corporate sustainability reports. Compile and share trends and opportunities.
  • Analyze data from corporate emissions reporting, energy data, or other data sources that may provide insights into private-sector action on climate. Compile findings to communicate current progress and assess which sectors are lagging behind.
  • Work with the Net Zero team to determine what insights would be valuable to support the current team priorities, complete ad hoc research and analysis projects, and collaborate with other EDF teams as needed to support the projects.
  • Contribute to developing thought leadership, tools, or reports related to corporate climate action, including case studies from the corporate sustainability reports.
  • Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
     

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a degree program and/or demonstrated interest in environmental issues, and/or corporate sustainability.
  • Understanding of climate change at the global level and international climate change frameworks, greenhouse gas protocols and/or reporting frameworks is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to produce data-driven insights using Excel or other applications. Ability to use AI tools for data analysis is recommended.
  • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate virtually with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
     

Location: Hybrid out of an EDF office in Austin, TX, Boulder, CO, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Raleigh, NC, San Francisco, CA, or Washington D.C., with option to be U.S. Remote. Intern supervisor and many team members are in New York, there are also team members in Boston and San Francisco. (Hybrid means must be physically present in location throughout internship, coming into the office an agreed number of days/week. US Remote means must be physically located in the US while working for the internship.)

Term: Summer 2026 (10 weeks)

Hours: Full-time (35 hr/week)

Compensation: This internship will be fully funded through Cornell Atkinson; a $7,000 stipend is provided.
