Key Responsibilities:
Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research and help develop a market analysis in one or more blue economy industries.
  • Support the development of a business plan suited to stakeholders in the chosen industry by interviewing key leaders and identifying specific value points relevant to FVON’s capabilities.
  • Meet with the FVON steering committee and share results to advance FVON’s technological development.
  • Present FVON’s oceanographic data in reports tailored to stakeholders. This may include helping with a range of tasks:
  • Clear data visualization and modeling.
  • Effective language and organization.
  • Various social media projects, including videos, social media posts, and newsletters.
  • Data analytics research on different outreach strategies.
  • Meet with the OTS team and supervisors to check in with questions and exchange feedback in a collaborative setting.
  • Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a degree program and/or demonstrated interest in oceanography, environmental justice, international policy, and natural resource management.
  • Coursework in business, economics, and communications recommended.
  • Experience in conducting market analysis research and sharing results in various formats (including reports, posters, abstracts, videos, and/or journalistic media) for different audiences is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills.

Location: Hybrid out of an EDF office in Austin, TX, Boulder, CO, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Raleigh, NC, San Francisco, CA, Washington D.C. or U.S. Remote. Intern supervisor is in Boston. (Hybrid means must be physically present in location throughout internship, coming into the office an agreed number of days/week. US Remote means must be physically located in the US while working for the majority of the internship.)

Term: Summer 2025

Hours: Full-time (35 hr/week)

Compensation: This internship will be fully funded through Cornell Atkinson; a $7,000 stipend is provided.
