Job Title: Atkinson Intern, Net Zero Data Analysis
Program/Department: EDF+Business
Job Description: EDF internships provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) which create a foundation for anyone who is serious about pursuing an environmental career.
Program/Department Overview: EDF+Business has been working with the private sector to address the world’s most pressing environmental problems for thirty years. Through our Net Zero Ambition and Action team we are working to get the leading global companies to have public net zero goals and transformation plans to achieve them; to share the lessons from their journey globally for other companies to learn from and act on; and to engage in systems change efforts to ensure a stable climate by midcentury. The Net Zero Action Accelerator is an EDF+Business initiative with a goal to help companies act now on climate change. It enables key companies in key sectors and geographies to build and implement climate action plans through clear and actionable resources, advising, tools and trainings, and capacity-building.
Overall Function: Reporting to the Manager, Net Zero Engagement, the intern will support the Net Zero Action Accelerator (NZAA) by completing data analysis and research projects that generate insights on corporate climate action. They will review sustainability reports from medium and large companies in the retail, Consumer Packaged Goods, and technology sectors to pull key data, case studies, and trends related to climate disclosure, such as supply chain engagement, renewable energy investment, and participation in climate collaborations. The intern will also analyze CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and other emissions datasets, as well as global energy trends, to assess where companies are making progress and where barriers remain. Comparing public disclosures with CDP data may provide additional insights into gaps between what companies report and what they are doing to reduce emissions. Expected output includes a trends-and-opportunities presentation, sector-specific supply chain maturity matrices, charts and visuals, and case studies and metrics for NZAA communications. This role is part of collaborative team developing resources and partnerships to accelerate the corporate net zero transition. The ideal candidate is a flexible team player who can jump into evolving projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
