Key Responsibilities:
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Research on aspects of the current US beef livestock system including the full lifecycle of an animal from the originating ranch through the entire supply chain.
- Prepare literature reviews to inform the EDF’s agriculture methane team’s focused engagement in the beef sector.
- Provide support to the team in conducting a systems analysis of the US beef livestock system.
- Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a degree program in biology, agriculture or animal sciences, or related field and/or demonstrated interest in agriculture, animal nutrition, or environmental science.
- Coursework in livestock systems recommended.
- Experience developing or applying life cycle methodologies is a plus.
- Basic proficiency in conducting literature reviews.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be well-organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
- Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
Location: U.S. Remote with option to be hybrid out of an EDF office in Boston, MA, New York, NY, Raleigh, NC, or Washington D.C. Intern supervisor and many team members are on the East Coast time zone. (Hybrid means must be physically present in location throughout internship, coming into the office an agreed number of days/week. US Remote means must be physically located in the US while working for the majority of the internship.)
Term: Summer 2025
Hours: Full-time (35 hr/week)
$7,000 stipend is provided.
