The Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships are offered through the Southeast Asia Program, part of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies.
Achieve language and cultural fluency with the help of a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship. You’ll gain valuable knowledge about cultures and countries in which your language is commonly used while developing skills in that language. FLAS fellowships are federally-funded and part of the Southeast Asia Program's designation by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Resource Center.

Amount
- Graduate academic year: $20,000 stipend, plus a tuition allowance of $18,000. (For academic degree programs [PhD, MS, MA, etc.], stipends and tuition will be supplemented by Grad School/your field to the standard rate)
- Summer (graduate or undergraduate): $2,500, plus a tuition allowance of up to $5,000.
