Overview

Opportunity Description

This program encourages you to explore contemporary London, both physically and culturally. Gain a deeper knowledge of British culture, including the central importance of history to the British. Explore the global impact of Britain on Western culture, including art, literature, and financial and political systems.

What is unique about this program?

Choose from a variety of IES Abroad-taught courses taught by expert local faculty at our Center, as well as a course at one of our prestigious local partner universities—City University, Queen Mary, or SOAS. Not only are there hundreds of courses and disciplines available through our partner universities, but you also have the opportunity to make local British and international friends.

While adding study abroad to your résumé is impressive enough, adding an international internship is even more powerful and can help distinguish your application for graduate school or a job opportunity in today’s competitive market. Before you depart, we talk to you about the type of placement you’d like and then work to match you with a placement in London. Service learning placements are also available if you would like to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s culture and society.

What is unique about London?

An urban adventure awaits you in London, one of the largest and most fascinating cities in Europe. With our Study London Program, you get a hands-on education in this iconic city—think: Big Ben, Parliament, Buckingham Palace—and all it has to offer.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

  1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
  2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
