What is unique about this program?

IAU College (IAU) is an American institution of higher learning located in southern France offering study abroad opportunities and degree programs in various fields including Business Administration, International Affairs, Art & Art History and French Studies. Established in 1957, IAU was one of the first American-style, English language, liberal arts educational institutions in Western Europe. It is chartered by the Regents of the State University of New York and is recognized by the Rectorat of Aix-Marseille University and the French Ministry of Education. IAU among the oldest and largest study abroad programs in Europe and was the first institution to offer a study abroad program to those studying abroad other than in the French language.

Note: Hotel students should not enroll in the "wine certificate" program as general wine studies should be undertaken at Cornell.

What is unique about Aix-en-Provence?

Aix-en-Provence offers access to traditional French culture in an intimate setting, and yet is still able to maintain the charm and elegance of a large metropolis. The quaint town is known for its beloved painter, Paul Cezanne, who painted the surrounding landscape. Local excursions during both semester and summer programs provide students with an enhanced awareness of Provencal culture while giving them a unique and unparalleled French experience.

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
