Opportunity Description

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was founded in 1937, with the mission of providing high quality education of an applied nature to meet the needs of a changing society. They are committed to equipping students with professional competency as well as maintaining a strong partnership with the business and industrial sectors.

Poly U has the largest student community among publicly funded universities in Hong Kong, with approximately 11,500 full-time and 5,000 part-time students. Poly U is the sole provider of full-time honors degree programs in the following areas in Hong Kong: design, engineering physics, fashion and textiles, medical laboratory science, international shipping and transport logistics, occupational therapy, optometry, physiotherapy, radiography and geo-informatics.

About the Exchange Program

Students in Fashion Design & Management or DEA may spend up to a year studying in partner programs at Hong Kong Polytechnic University that provides a leading international exchange student program.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design faculty is one of the most internationally mixed in the world. They conduct research in a specialized areas and bring these skills into the classroom. The School of Design encourages creativity and innovation supported by the most technologically advanced design tools. The design program has over 800 undergraduates.

Housing

You can truly immerse yourself into the lifestyle of a Poly U student by staying at the Student Halls of Residence which are modern and fully equipped with every amenity. All rooms are fully furnished with a shared bathroom between two adjacent rooms. Each room is air-conditioned and equipped with broadband Internet access.

Living in residence offers you plenty of learning opportunities with various inter and intra hall events, also known as 'Hall Education Programs." A wide range of activities like workshops, cultural sharing covering different interests such as cooking, languages, music, dance and much more encourage students to broaden their international outlook and enhance their appreciation of different cultures.

How do I apply?

Applying to study on an exchange program is a two-step process. The Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit your nomination to the exchange partner.  Exchanges may have limited spaces, so early applications are encouraged.

  1. For Cornell approval and nomination, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by your college and the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page, or earlier, if filled.
  2. Once nominated by Cornell, complete an external application specifically for exchange students Schools typically admit the students nominated by exchange partners, but you must complete this process for them to review your application and offer you a place.
