Overview

Opportunity Description

Host Organization: Fundación Futuro Familia, Inclusión, y Desarollo (FUFFID)

Location: Ibarra, Ecuador

Fundación Futuro is a nonprofit that specializes in the implementation of programs and projects that promote the eradication of poverty among the vulnerable populations. The organization's focus includes participatory community development, the environment and climate change, migratory populations, and more.

As an intern, you'll teach English to young people in the Cayambe municipality of Ecuador, a diverse territory with a strong Indigenous population. Your work will complement the high school learning of 20 students from rural communities to improve their English-language skills and vocabulary. Work will include:

  • Creating a structured schedule covering all internship time.
  • Conducting an English level diagnostic test.
  • Creating a basic English language comprehension study plan.
  • Creating a final assessment test for students to demonstrate English language learning progress.

Experience in teaching English as a second language is required, as well as intermediate to high levels of Spanish language.

Funding

All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
